Body Image Representations Essay - 1111 Words

The phenomenon of dress and bodily adornment has always been a matter of conflict. It seems that society is constantly trying to repress the notion of aesthetics being a priority in any sense. Generally speaking, we are taught from a young age that looks are not important and we should not use them to make judgements of people. This is then contradicted by the notion of a doting mother always concerned about their child’s appearance, a nervous girl on a first date spending hours attempting to find something to wear, beauty pageants, wearing your best for a job interview even if the job’s uniform consists of a store shirt and khaki pants, and the like. This discord between what we say and how we actually feel creates some problems in the†¦show more content†¦As I have worked in the service industry since I have been old enough to work, the art of people watching and people reading has become an activity I like to think I have mastered. At the moment, I work at a bar in Atlantic Station where people come to be seen. Because of my experiences in the service industry, Turner’s article has only further validated my belief that what we put on is more important to us than we think. As far as fashion goes, there are two types of people who exist. People who are wearing their outfits and those whose outfits are wearing them. I have noticed that women who are â€Å"wearing their outfits† so to speak, exude way more confidence than women whose outfits are â€Å"wearing them†. It may be the confidence, but it seems that these ‘confident’ women are usually wearing outfits that seem to be congruent with their personality. By that I mean wearing something they are genuinely comfortable in, almost with an air of â€Å"this outfit was made for me and no one else.† On the other hand, there are those women who look as if their clothes are holding them hostage. With the increasing use of technology in the classroom, learning does not have to come solely from the teacher. The computer programs that are being produced and used act as tutors from which the students are able to get extended time to learn about the topic or subject being discussed. In â€Å"Technology in Education† a 1986 study called â€Å"Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow† (ACOT) was performed and negative results were hoping to be found based on the long amount of time that students and teachers were at computers. ACOT allowed for each student and teacher to receive two computers: one to keep at school and another to take home. Other than this the kitchen appliances and furniture business could also be adapted to provide assistance to those outlets and restaurants situated nearby. Learning process In the learning process, the data is collected through interviews with consumers and owners and difference between the gaps is studies. The journals, article and other reading are involved in the secondary collection of data, the behaviour of consu mers is seen and being the consumer some ideas are added from my point of view as well depending on my behaviour, thoughts, reaction and satisfaction towards the things. Formerly the situation factor was not much clear but on researching and interacting with people it is known that distance is the crucial point that matters as it is connected with the time factor that is another critical point in each persons life. The culture and values in which the person is brought up influence the choice and behaviour of the individual to great extent. What the family has taught from the childhood did not vanish with the changing trend. For instance, in food outlets like KFC, McDonalds where non-veg is been offered, the Muslim community prefer only the Halal product because it is attached to their values and culture (Akpan, 2016). Thus the business researchers contributed a lot in developing the learning process and learn more and more practical things that actually apply but are not given or explained in the text books. This kind of knowledge will surely help me in upcoming future where I can apply this knowledge and make the plan to bridge up the gaps between consumer and producers thereby making the effort to bring revolution. Reason for doing research The reason behind conducting such activities is to learn about the real world and enter into the practical world to have experience that what actually is been followed in the real world. The objective was analysed and piloting is made whether the research objective selected is worth analysing? Do the problem really exists or not? When it was confirmed that this problem is actually the real one and meant to be analysed and studied research process got started. My motive was to know the hurdles that create disturbance among consumers and owners in food products. The satisfaction level of consumer varies from person to person; the reason behind conducting this research is to know these variations and to mark up which of the habits, reactions and behaviour are most commonly seen which are likely to create conflict and what measures would be taken to improve the current situation and move it towards betterment (Rosen, 2015). New England Vs. Chesapeake Essays - Thirteen Colonies,

New England Vs. Chesapeake Early English colonies in America hardly resembled the union of men and women that would later fight against England and build a new country. In fact, until the mid-eighteenth century, most English colonists had very little, if anything to do with the settlers in neighboring colonies. They heard news of Indian wars and other noteworthy events, not from the colony itself, but from England. The colonies in the New World appeared completely different and the prospect of any unity between them seemed impossible. The colonies in New England and the Chesapeake exemplify the many differences in the culture and lifestyles of the settlers, created mainly because of the fact that their founding fathers had held separate intentions when they came to the New World. The New England and Chesapeake colonies were both settled by immigrants from England, the New England colonies being founded by the English from East Anglia, an area in eastern England. Though this was an area thriving with small towns that they had generally liked, they decided to flee England due to religious persecution. Hundreds of families, men, women and their children, came in search of a New World where they could practice their beliefs freely. They founded colonies such as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island as model Christian societies. Their cities upon the hills were guides, the lanterns, for those lost in the darkness of humanity, as John Winthrop meant by his famous statement. They formed a society of strict religious participation, actually very much resembling their homeland. In the beginning, many called themselves Puritans, and kept things very simple and plain, concentrating on what was important to them. They used the community to achieve t heir goals, building new towns and enjoying the social aspect of their religion. At the same time, they were committed to remain working hard to keep their community productive. They believed the ?idle hands? were the devil's workshops. An issue that really defined a split between the societies was the slavery conflict. The northerners in New England held true to their belief that every man shall be equal and no one should be enslaved, while the southerners in the Chesapeake area strongly believed in the use of slavery. At the same time the New Englanders worked to help end slavery by preaching to others about the injustices, they worked diligently to make education in their society strong. Most people in the towns were literate so that they could read their Bibles and study them in detail with their friends and family. Some colonists were artisans or merchants. Others were small-town farmers, making sure that every member of the community had a reasonable share of God's land. The northern colonies were renowned for being rich in furs, timber and fish. They were especially noted for developing into a very successful trading region. The New England colonies made up the middle class society whose focal points were fam ily, education and religion. The society remained non-capitalistic, yet still buzzed with much activity. On the other hand, the Chesapeake region had a ?cash crop? get rich quickly mentality. This aristocratic region consisted of Virginia and Maryland, two colonies that seemed to be exceedingly materialistic. Evidently, their lives were based more on their liquid assets than on God or family. The Englanders who saw the opportunity to take advantage of the popularity of a brand new crop they had discovered settled the Chesapeake area.
